Chief Operating Officer Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC)
Mr. John Tuaim is the Chief Operating Officer of MRDC. Reporting to the Managing Director, he leads a dynamic and highly motivational team at the State’s oldest management company. Mr Tuaim joined the organization in 2010 as a Special Projects Manager. He was later promoted to Manager Technical Services, then General Manager Technical and Corporate Services. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2014.
Prior to joining MRDC, Mr Tuaim spent seven years at the Department of Treasury holding key positions in the Structural Policy and Investment Division of the department. One of his milestone achievements was providing advice on the State’s financing of the PNG LNG Project, while sitting on the project’s Finance Committee as the Treasury Minister’s representative.
He was also involving in overseeing the growth of several SoEs, serving as director on the boards of Water PNG, Industrial Center Development Corporation (ICDC), National Roads Authority, Ok Tedi Mining Limited, and the Lamin Trust which he briefly chaired. He was also a Trustee Director for the Ok Tedi Royalty Trust, and served as a member of the Mining Advisory Council and Petroleum Advisory Board.
Currently, Mr Tuaim serves as Executive Director of Dirio Gas and Power Ltd, and Director of Hevilift and Pacific International Hospital.
Mr. Tuaim graduated from the University of Papua New Guinean with a Degree in Economics, and also holds a Masters Degree in Project Management (Oil and Gas) from the University of Liverpool.
