Country Manager PNG Fortescue Future Industries Limited
Andy Hetra has been the Country Manager of PNG Fortescue Future Industries Limited since October 2020. Mr Hetra started his career as a graduate Scientific Officer with the Department of Environment & Conservation (now Conservation & Environment Protection Authority) working his way up to be Manager – Environment Impact Assessment Branch. He has also worked for ExxonMobil in the PNG LNG Project, Xstrata Copper in the Frieda River Project and InterOil Corporation for the Elk Antelope Gas Project and recently with Total E&P PNG Limited on the Papua LNG Project. Mr Hetra has been part of the State team representing Department of Environment & Conservation seconded to the PNG Gas Office for PNG to Queensland Gas Project and PNG LNG Project working on the Environment Approvals the PNG LNG Project in its formative years.
Mr Hetra has extensive experience of over 16 years in both the public and private sector with a core interest in regulatory approvals, compliance, processes and systems management. Mr Hetra holds a Masters in Engineering (Environmental Engineering) from Griffith University, Australia, Diploma in Law (Prosecutions) and a Bachelor of Science with Honors (First Class) co-majoring in environmental science and chemistry from the University of Papua New Guinea.
